Honoring Rosalinda & Kenneth Hill

Rest in peace and power, Linda and Kenny. Your spirits guide us every day as we continue to fight for a just and loving community. May we always carry forward the legacy of your unyielding love and leadership.

When I reflect on the profound impact Linda had on me and on CADRE, I’m reminded of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s call for “a kind of dangerous unselfishness.” Linda’s life embodied this spirit fully. Her deep compassion became our cornerstone for mobilizing parents, transforming it into a robust strategy to challenge and change societal perceptions that often marginalized our community.

Linda’s resilience as a mother of five in South LA’s toughest neighborhoods was legendary. Her unyielding dedication to learning and overcoming obstacles has profoundly shaped CADRE’s ethos and methods. Her approach wasn’t just about engagement—it was about empowering parents to lead, to challenge, and to envision better futures for their families.

Her partnership with Kenny was equally transformative. Together, they forged a path that many have walked on, but few have left such an indelible mark. In 2014, we honored their combined legacy by renaming our Legacy Award the Rosalinda and Kenneth Hill Legacy Award. This award is a testament to their enduring faith in the power of parents and their deep love for the community.

We owe a tremendous debt to Linda and Kenny. Their lives inspire us to uphold the values of courage, leadership, and community love. They taught us to see the whole parent, the whole person, and in doing so, they enriched all of CADRE.

As we remember Linda and Kenny, let us all aspire to reflect their unselfish courage and deep love in our actions. CADRE remains a part of their enduring legacy, striving to champion the rights and dignity of every parent and child with the same fierce commitment they demonstrated.
